In 2017, Darius, his wife Nima and their two daughters escaped horrific violence in Iran and arrived in Australia.

The whole family was looking forward to enjoying a quiet, peaceful life in a new land. It was a dream come true for them.

But when Darius’ promised job fell through shortly after arriving in Australia, he was suddenly left without an income and without options. He didn’t know where to turn.

Darius just wanted to do the best for his family but moving to a new country meant he didn’t have any support from family or friends, and his life savings were running out just trying to meet rent.

You can help keep our Meals Plus doors open this Christmas for people like Darius and his family, who have nowhere else to turn.

Meals Plus provides a warm meal and the chance to connect with one another during what is so often a lonely and isolating time for those most vulnerable in our community.

Every day we meet families like Darius and Nima. People who have escaped violence and terror in their home country, only to suddenly find themselves without employment and on the verge of homelessness here in Australia.

Meals Plus is a vital service for our local community. We know it’s often hard to ask for help. That’s why our incredible staff and volunteers work tirelessly to keep our doors open to those most vulnerable 5 days a week, 52 weeks a year.
